A fraternity (Latin
frater : "brother") is a brotherhood, although the term sometimes
connotes a distinct or formal organization and sometimes a secret society. A
fraternity (or fraternal organization) is an organized society of men
associated together in an environment of companionship and brotherhood;
dedicated to the intellectual, physical, and social development of its members.
What is an Initiation?
Initiation is a
rite of passage marking entrance or acceptance into a group or society. It
could also be a formal admission to adulthood in a community or one of its
formal components. In an extended sense it can also signify a transformation in
which the initiate is 'reborn' into a new role. This is the acceptance into
a fraternal organization, secret society or religious order, or graduation from
school or recruit training. A person taking the initiation ceremony in
traditional rites is called an initiate.

TAU GAMMA PHI
• Tau Gamma Phi (ΤΓΦ) also known as the Triskelions' Grand Fraternity, is a Fraternity
established in the Philippines. Its members call themselves Triskelions.Their aims are to see a Fraternity. Based on
these goals, the Triskelions categorized their formal group as a
'protest fraternity'. The Fraternity encourages its members to strive for
spiritual growth and to organize socio-civic activities for the benefit
of communities.
• The Fraternity believes that the members must embody qualities of leadership, commitment,
persistence, trust, integrity, respect, and vision for them to achieve academic
success and personal development. The Tau Gamma Phi in Bulan,Sorsogon was founded on October 23,2000 and has 3 chapters. It is composed of about
8OO registered members.
RACOONS FRATERNITY
• The raccoons fraternity started in
1953.It was established by a group of basketball players .The name “raccoons”
was derived from a small nocturnal carnivore which pertains to their
personality as basketball players. There are 6O members as of this
recent time.The first born children of raccoons parents are automatically
considered as members of the fraternity.
VIKINGS FRATERNITY AND SORORITY
• Vikings Fraternity and Sorority was
an exclusive group here in Bulan founded in 1952 of only nine members.The name “Vikings” was derived from the
pirates of Western Germany way back on May 26,1952.As of now,they have more than hundreds of members.Their main goal is to serve the Bulaneño with their
collaborative efforts and to sponsor different activities in Bulan.

PHILIPPINE GUARDIANS BROTHERHOOD INCORPORATED
• PHILIPPINE
GUARDIANS BROTHERHOOD INCORPORATED-The Guardians Brotherhood Organization
was first known as the "Diablo Squad" (DS) organization in 1976 and
is originally comprised of 11 members with Sgt. Leborio
"ABRAHAM" Jangao, Jr. as its founder.
• In Bulan,Sorsogon,the PGBI
was founded on May 22,2000.The former board member Olaf Gotladera
was the first president of PGBI fraternity founded by Recto valeriano.Their
main objective is to exend
community services among the
marginalized sectors as well as the brigada eskwela,medical
missions,etc..They have now more than 1000 members.

LAMBDA OMEGA ALPHA
• Lambda Omega Alpha started in
1984.They are called as the “stripers” before.14 students from CIC,RGCC,and SLI krams founded this fraternity and sorority.After 3
years,they became
an official fraternity in Bulan.Since 1984,there
are 10 presidents who handled this fraternity as of this recent time. The LOA
longed For community services such as medical
mission, etc.There are now more than
35 members of LOA here in Bulan.
ACTIVE SERVANTS BROTHERHOOD ORGANIZATION
The Active Servants Brotherhood Organization
(ASBO) was established in the year 2009.Some of the barangays in Bulan have their local group.They aim to give community services in each
barangay and to develop the harmonious relationship among the neighbors.
CONCLUSION
There are 18
official fraternities in Bulan,Sorsogon.All of them have this common goal: to
offer community services and to develop the strong foundation of friendship or brotherhood.Even if they have different groups,they are still after the benefits of each
member and they strive hard to achieve their common purpose.
